One of the best things I experienced was the personal touch. It can be daunting dealing with solicitors and I never felt like a hindrance. Gary was always available on the phone and email for me and always responded very quickly. I know of an elderly person dealing with Gary who really appreciated being able to meet face to face in a place where she felt comfortable. I think both types of meetings are great as clients have various needs.
Friendly, easy to talk to, professional support from start to finish. The service was exceptional, communication was timely and never overbearing. Everything was explained clearly along with expected timelines for completion. The team went above and beyond to sort out any issues that may have arisen during the process. Overall, very satisfied with the service.
What we found best was the professionalism of the service overall, the confidentiality, empathy and understanding. Communication was always clear in both e-mail and in person. Response times to e-mails, and meetings, was very good. I believe your fees are very competitive, and good value for your service.
What are our principles?
At Hegarty Horgan Solicitors LLP we believe that expert analysis coupled with effective work systems provide our customers with a great experience. We constantly strive to improve your customer experience and we have been lucky to get very valuable feedback from our customers. We also believe that expert analysis coupled with effective systems is an excellent way to approach charitable giving.
At Hegarty Horgan Solicitors LLP we believe that we are fortunate to be in a position to help people who need the most help. We are committed to donating a minimum of 5% of all our profits to charitable causes. Picking between the various charitable causes is not easy. Applying our principles of coupling expert analysis with effective systems has lead us to following the principles of effective altruism.
What is Effective Altruism?
In Short, Effective altruism is changing the way we do good. Effective altruism is about answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? It’s about being generous with your time and your money to do the most good you can.
For an excellent TED talk explaining effective altruism you can watch Peter Singer
In our search for expert analysis and effective systems we have found GiveWell to match what we were looking for and we currently donate our charitable funding to their maximum impact fund amongst other charities.
From the GiveWell website
What is GiveWell?
GiveWell is a nonprofit dedicated to finding outstanding giving opportunities and publishing the full details of our analysis to help donors decide where to give.
Unlike charity evaluators that focus solely on financials, assessing administrative or fundraising costs, we conduct in-depth research aiming to determine how much good a given program accomplishes (in terms of lives saved, lives improved, etc.) per dollar spent. Rather than try to rate as many charities as possible, we focus on the few charities that stand out most (by our criteria) in order to find and confidently recommend high-impact giving opportunities
How and why did GiveWell start?
GiveWell started when a group of friends asked how their charitable donations could accomplish as much good as possible. These friends, who were working full time in the finance industry, found that information to answer that question was not available through existing donor resources, or even directly from charities.
The group began to do its own research but quickly found it wasn’t part-time work: finding high-impact giving opportunities involved challenging questions without readily-available answers. Two of the group members left their jobs and started GiveWell in 2007 as a full-time project. They pledged to share their work on the GiveWell website, for free, to help all donors who wanted to do as much good as possible.
What is GiveWell trying to accomplish?
We aim to direct donor funding to the best giving opportunities for saving or improving lives that we can find, according to our criteria.
We picture a world in which donors reward charities for effectiveness in saving and improving lives, and in which donors giving any amount can easily access information to help maximize the impact of their gifts.
